Open Compressor uses modern browser technologies like Compression Streams API and WebAssembly for client-side compression. For complex formats that require server processing, we use industry-standard tools like FFmpeg, ImageMagick, and Ghostscript on secure servers. All uploaded files are automatically deleted after processing.
Privacy is at the core of everything we build. Most compression tasks happen entirely in your browser. When server processing is necessary, your files are encrypted in transit, processed in isolated environments, and automatically deleted within 24 hours.
